Built in 1898 the White Pass & Yukon Route railway was originally used by stampeders on their way to the Dawson City gold fields during the 1892 Klondike gold rush. Now, more then a century later, the WPYR is one of the main tourist attractions for Skagway Alaska. Each year thousands of tourists pour off cruse ships and onto the train. One of the only operational narrow gage tracks left in the world the WPYR is considered a International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
